The company gave Nectar the assignment to create the next advancement in the digital DJ experience by developing an efficient, instinctive audio interface for its Torq DJ software.

Interfacing Audio Effects with the DJ Performance

The challenges associated with developing the world’s first bus-powered 4 x 4 USB audio interface for DJs who perform and produce tracks with a laptop were many. The system had to utilize different audio media—including vinyl records, CDs, and digital files—to produce high-fidelity audio while enabling the ability to mix, beat-match, and cue digital files with ease. It had to support a completely digital solution, including MP3, WAV, WMA, and AAC file formats, as well as process vinyl and CDs on the fly.
